Hello everyone!

As you all know, the group has been shut down for a little while to try and smooth out the tangled mess that was the group's folders, and to just revamp the group the make things a lot easier.
Now, instead of having nine million folder options to submit to, we have a neat and tidy little list! It's also very straight forward to help minimize confusion as to where to submit.

The rules of the group are still pretty much the same:
- This group is for Self Taught Artists, we are not strict on our definitions of what self-taught is, so don't worry too much about definitions and submit!
- Be respectful. You don't need to absolutely love every piece you get in your inbox, but bashing artists and/or their art won't get you far.
- Anything against DeviantArts policies obviously won't be allowed. Since the non-featured folders are auto-accept, feel free to note a moderator if anything like that gets in the group and we will remove it :).
- Please don't advertise on our page. We do not post advertising journals. There are plenty of groups that are for that kind of thing!
- Submit to the correct folder! Don't want things to become a mess again do we?! :)

The folders now are a lot more straight forward, but just in case I will give a quick run down for each one.

I'll start with the featured folder, since it's the folder that commands the most attention:
We used to have it so that anyone could submit many works to this folder, and it took 3 votes to get in. The upside to this was that everyone got a chance to try and get in, and if one moderator didn't feel it belonged, there was still other votes to be considered. The downside to this way however, was due to the large size of the group. We got a ton of submissions to go through, and quality control suffered because of it; We love seeing what you guys submit, but when you have 150+ deviations to go through every time you refresh, it can be overwhelming. Also, if there wasn't enough moderators to vote, it would just expire, which rendered it essentially useless as a system.
The way the featured folder will be handled now is what I feel is a much better system. We won't be accepting submissions (May change in the future*), and instead we as moderators are going to hand-pick the deviations for the featured folder. That way, there is no accepting or declining deviants, which can affect the attitudes of members, but instead keep it as it's name intends: A Feature. It's not a prestigious award or anything, it is simply a folder for stuff we personally think is neat; and due to the differing tastes among the moderators, the featured folder should have a nice diverse selection of awesome art for you!
We do have an option to submit a "proposed favorite" to the featured folder, which won't put the deviation in the gallery's featured folder, but in the favorites featured folder. These require one vote to get in.
*This is not set in stone, and if we do allow submissions to the featured folder, they will be limited and will require one vote to decide whether it get's accepted or not.

Artisan crafts and Jewelry:
Very straightforward, this is for anything that fits in that category. Bracelets, necklaces, earrings, leather work, paper craft, wood burning, sculpting etc. etc. all goes into this folder.

Digital Artwork:
This folder encompasses all art that is created using digital media. Anything created using Photoshop, Illustrator, Gimp, etc. goes here regardless of genre or subject matter. Only thing digital that wouldn't go here is 3D art, which has it's own folder. Vector art also has it's own folder, but it can be put in here also.

FanArt:
This folder is for any type of art, doesn't matter if it's traditional, digital, sculpting, or otherwise, as long as it's fanart, it belongs here. Whether it be for TV series, Movies, Music, or whatever, it all goes in here.

Literature and Poetry:
Writing Welcome! The only thing we ask that not be submitted is personal journals or advertising.

Traditional Paintings:
This folder is for paintings of any kind, watercolor, acrylic, oil, mixed media, etc. Only type of painting that doesn't beling in here is digital (Put it in the digital art folder).

Traditional Media Besides Paintings:
Drawings with markers, crayons, pencils, inks, all that goes in here. We ask that you submit finished pieces opposed to just simple sketches and WIPS or anything in Scraps.

3D Computer art:
All 3D modeling goes in here. Very straight forward.

Vector and Fractal art:
All them nifty fractals go here! Vector work is welcome here and also in the digital art folder.

Photography:
All photography goes here; all genres accepted. Black and white and color, portraits or conceptual photos, it all goes in here. Artistic Nudes and fetish photography ARE accepted so long as the appropriate maturity warnings are on them. These two categories may have their own folder in the future, but for now all photos go into the photography folder.

Photomanipulation:
All photo manips welcome here. By photo manipulation we mean like surreal edits and compositions; Simple edits like touching up and color adjustments can still be put into the photography folder.

Stock and Resources:
For all the tutorials, stock photos, textures and everything else! Everything and anything that contributes to other deviants create their own works.

Unsorted Art:
If you really aren't entirely sure where to submit, put it in here and a moderator will figure it out for you :)

This is pretty much all there is to the group! We hope to be up and running soon, there is still a few more cobwebs to dust and a couple of kinks to work out, but we will be back and running before you know it.

Thanks!

Its good to see things getting back together in this group, I am curious though not sure if anyone else had recently asked this but what happened to the mentoring program? Did it die before it could really settle in? Or is it still a work in progress?
